To help me close my treatise on ideas.
But here I find you like Sir John the Hog
Wallowing in wet clay and a fog
Of your own making. Why?

“365” - stills 3,4 and 5 Some may wonder why, given my already busy life, I have undertaken this commitment to animate a second a day for the 365 that go to make up 2013. It may have a lot to do with my very low boredom threshold and the fact I am (according to an expert) terminally under-stimulated. A couple of quotes that seem appropriate: Man needs difficulties. They are necessary for health. (Carl Jung) I need to work to feel well. (Edouard Manet) Inspiration comes of working every day. (Charles Baudelaire) Rather than releasing the whole film at the end of the year I’m going to release it (inspired by a certain Mr C. Dickens) as monthly installments. Part 1 on the 31st Jan. There is no storyline, script or storyboard. The ideas are coming from things I’ve read, seen or experienced on the day, with a little artistic license for good measure. I have no idea what the final film will look like or what if any the story will be. Definitely to be filed in the experimental film section (hopefully not in a bad way). I’m constantly fascinated with ways of making films and of telling narratives in a unconventional ways.’365’ fits this mind set perfectly. As does my other short film I’m working on which, rather than taking the real world as it’s source material, looks straight into the inside of my head, a much more phantasmagorical experience. So here’s to a busy busy 2013, the word for this year is - Prolific :)

Here’s a still from the second second from ‘365’
While listening to a documentary on Isaac Newton I discovered one of his favorite books was ‘The Chemical Wedding’ which featured a priest who could change the colour of nature.
